SBS extends FIFP World Cup coverage to radio and in language

SBS, the official TV and online broadcaster of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, will offer more extensive coverage than ever before with football games to be broadcast on TV, online and now also in 14 languages on SBS Radio.

Matches will be broadcast live in English as well as in 13 other languages: Spanish, Greek, Korean, Slovenian, Serbian, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Slovak, Portuguese, Arabic and Danish.

SBS National Manager In Language Thang Ngo said: “Our 2010 FIFA World Cup In Language radio schedule will deliver the world’s most popular sporting event to a more diverse group of Australians than ever before - in their own language.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our clients to extend their message across different languages to reach engaged, passionate supporters of the game in Australia’s diverse multicultural communities.”

SBS Director of Audio & Language Content Dirk Anthony said: “SBS is Australia’s leading free-to-air football network, and the FIFA World Cup is the biggest sports event in the world. Our unprecedented commitment to football has been recognised in the granting of exclusive coverage rights to the network. This is a tremendous outcome for SBS, for our listeners and viewers, and for football in Australia.”

There will also be full news reports and daily results coverage in all 68 SBS Radio language programs.

SBS In Language has advertising available across all language channels, before the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ kicks off on 11 June.
