SBS ratings release for week 5, 2010


In what has been a week of sport, SBS has garnered more than a million viewers in the five metro areas and 440,000 in regional Australia* for its coverage of Santos Tour Down Under 2010, according to figures from OzTAM.

Across its eight-day telecast (January 17-24), the tour achieved a 61 per cent increase in cumulative audience compared with last year’s coverage.

New to SBS, Monster Moves parked in second place on the metro list last week, with 377,000 viewers, and first place in regional, with 231,000 viewers. The program, which debuted on Saturday night, risks treacherous routes, battles storms and races against time to meet mega-delivery deadlines.

Thursday night’s food line-up performed well with Gourmet Farmer reaping a metro audience of 316,000 viewers and 177,000 in regional while Oz and James’s Big Wine Adventure attracted 299,000 metro and 149,000 regional viewers.

And on SBS’s back-to-back action Monday nights, a new Mythbusters attracted 366,000 metro viewers and 218,000 in regional areas, while Man vs Wild scored 400,000 viewers in metro and 223,000 in regional.
